Shillong, Dec 21: What can be the best Christmas gift for the people of the state? A person living in Shillong will no longer have to travel three hours to catch a flight to Delhi from the Guwahati airport.
Now, the new-born regional airline, FlyBig airline is all ready to begin its Delhi-Umroi-Delhi flight operations from today. Delhi is not far as Meghalaya too gets well-connected by Air.
Ahead of Monday’s launch of the Shillong-Delhi flight, an official at FlyBig has said that the company is looking to initially operate the flight weekly and then two times a week.
Flight number SG 9069 DEL-SHL will depart at 10 am as the arrival is scheduled at 13:10 hrs. For Shillong to Delhi, SG 9070 will depart at 1:50 p.m., while it is scheduled to reach at 17:00 hours.
The Fight will take approximately 3 hours to reach Delhi. The flight fares start at Rs 4999+taxes.
To commence operations immediately, Flybig is making arrangements to operate a Bombardier Q400 aircraft (which is as per the Agreement) available as charter. Additional sectors and flights out of Shillong are planned in the subsequent months.
Interestingly, as per the details on the website, the fares start at Rs 4999+taxes. So far, the Umroi airport had flights operating to Kolkata only. Indigo airlines are entrusted to operate daily flights, but due to the recent pandemic, the Shillong-Kolkata flight was suspended since March 2020. The state will also have the Umling entry point inaugurated on December 21, 2020.
The state is opening its tourism from today the 21st of December.
