Tura, July 28: A’CHIK Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) has suspended its President, Thomas M. Marak, citing misuse and abuse of authority. Vice President Greneth Sangma also submitted resignation amidst allegations.
The decision was taken in a special meeting of the council on Saturday in the presence of executive members of the council.
In a letter shot to Thomas M. Marak informing him of the council’s decision, it said the suspension is due to allegations against Marak for overriding council resolutions, unauthorized approval of organizational units, and centralizing leadership against ACHIK’s democratic principles. Concerns have also been raised about his interference in organizational operations and promotion of groups without council approval.
Marak’s duties have been revoked, and the responsibilities will be assumed by the Working President and General Secretary during an ongoing investigation. An inquiry committee has also been established to ensure a fair examination of the issues at hand, the letter said.
