Shillong, May 21: Meghalaya deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong on Friday informed that under National Food Security Act (NFSA) an additional allotment of rice will be given to the 21,45,145 beneficiaries for the month of May and June.
Tynsong said that the government has been receiving complaints that people are scared about the essentials. He said, “Government of India has been kind enough to again repeat the system they provided last year. For the month of May and June under NFSA, additional allotment is given. Those beneficiaries who are entitled under NFSA total beneficiaries entitled to this special scheme is 21,45,145 beneficiaries.”
Tynsong also urged the citizens to come forward to get themselves tested if they feel that they have mild COVID-19 symptoms. According to Tynsong, the cases they have detected are those with mild symptoms. “Once it is detected it is difficult to take care of, so we felt the need to remind and request citizens that if you have mild symptoms kindly isolate yourself and not move out. Inform dedicated line so that health workers will reach your place or either you can come forward,” said Tynsong.
He once again reiterated that the fight against COVID-19 ultimately goes down to the individual level and not the government alone.
