Must read

Imphal, Sept 05: Superintendent of Police of Churachandpur, Karthik Malladi, on Tuesday announced the deployment of additional security forces in the region to deter any potential anti-social activities.

Referring to the recent incidents of heavy gunfire, violence, and attempts to disrupt the prevailing law and order in specific fringe areas within the district, he said the deployed forces had successfully averted significant disruptions to the region’s law and order situation.

Malladi assured the public that any disturbances to the law and order situation along the district’s borders would be promptly addressed, even as he informed that a substantial number of forces, including district police, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, RAF, Army, and Assam Rifles, had been stationed strategically.

“The security forces stationed at Kangvai, Turbung, Bangla, as well as the Khousahbung clusters, Sangaikot areas, and parts of Samulamlan, are well-prepared,” he stated. “They are fully equipped to confront and neutralize any potential threats that may arise and jeopardize the existing law and order.”

Malladi mentioned that they were coordinating closely with neighbouring districts such as Kakching and Bishnupur, as well as with the forces deployed on the adjacent side of the border. Furthermore, he emphasized that regular meetings are being held to ensure that any potential mobilization, whether from Churachandpur or Bishnupur, would be monitored, and the public would be prevented from approaching the border areas.

Also, in anticipation of increased public movement towards Kangvai on Wednesday, Malladi appealed to the district’s residents to remain calm and refrain from mobilizing towards Turbung Bangla, S Kotlian, or Turbung Bazar. He assured the public that the deployment of security forces had been optimized to manage any movement beyond Turbung Bangla effectively.

Malladi also revealed that, in addition to Kangvai, four companies of CAPF had been stationed from Kangvai to Turbung Bangla, with over three companies of forces deployed on both the eastern and western sides of the district.
