Williamnagar, Oct 1: The entire East Garo Hills district zonal unit of A’chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) has formally announced mass resignation citing “improper functioning and misused powers” by the organization’s leadership.
The resignation letter, dated September 30, 2024 addressed to AHAM’s Central Executive Body based in Tura, highlighted that despite repeated efforts to address concerns, their grievances had been consistently dismissed.
“There have been numerous instances of miscommunication, lack of transparency, and disregard for Zonal, Unit and sub-unit well-being, which have greatly impacted our morale and productivity,” they said.
“We have tried to raise our concerns with the higher-ups, but our voices have gone unheard and our grievances have been dismissed. It is evident that the current leadership is unable or unwilling to address the root causes of the problems that are affecting the organization as a whole,” they further said.
The members also criticized the leadership for creating what they described as a “toxic work environment”.
Nonetheless, they hoped that this mass resignation serves as a “wake-up call” for the organization to address its shortcomings and strive for a better work environment for AHAM members in the future.
