Shillong, Feb 23: 326 people joined the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) in the presence of AITC Vice Presidents Himalaya Shangpliang and James Lyngdoh at Nongstoin on Wednesday. During the event, Nongstoin Block Trinamool Congress was also constituted.Following the joining event, the newly appointed vice-president of AITC Meghalaya Unit discussed the roadmap ahead and vision of AITC Meghalaya. He said, “There is a lot of good response at the grassroots which is very important for us. As AITC is a party for the grassroots, we appeal to strengthen the grassroots.” In addition, he also expressed his confidence in the newly appointed block president of Nongstoin, Macmillan Kharbani.

In the Nongstoin Block Trinamool Congress, there are 10 members and 70 executive members. After the event, the Block President expressed the reason behind joining AITC. He said, “This is the only party that is fighting against the BJP and the communal forces. I aim to promote and strengthen secular parties.”
