Shillong, Dec 23: The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) on Monday announced its second list of six candidates for the upcoming autonomous district council (ADC) elections, to be held on February 21, next year.
All the six candidates are from constituencies under the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).
They are: Remdorkupar Lyngdoh from Saphai, Warmanship Shadap from Mowkaiaw, Dr Dashemlok Isniaw Kjam from Jowai North, Krison Langstang from Sumer, Aibor Hima Darnei from Saipung Nongkhlieh and Daiapher Lamare from Narpuh constituency.
Altogether 26 candidates for JHADC have been announced so far while 18 candidates for the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Party leaders informed that for the remaining constituencies in KHADC and JHADC, the process of announcing the candidates will be completed within January 10.
According to them, the party would want to resolve issues relating to too many ticket aspirants from such constituencies.
“We would want everybody to work together to ensure victory for the party,” they said.
Recently, NPP state chief and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong had expressed confidence that the people of the Khasi and Jaintia regions will vote for a ‘double engine government’ in the upcoming ADC polls in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills region.
