Fire safety orientation and demonstration held at Phek Government College

Kohima, July 17: Phek Government College, in collaboration with the Nagaland Fire and Emergency Services, organised an orientation programme and fire safety demonstration on Friday to raise awareness about fire prevention, emergency preparedness and the importance of timely response during fire incidents.

The programme was held at the college in collaboration with the Disaster Management Committee and was attended by Convenor Ronald Difoe, Assistant Professor and IQAC Coordinator Dr. Levinu Sakhrie, and Assistant Professor Victor Vero.

The orientation session was conducted by Tsuchutu Joe, ASI, Phek, followed by a practical fire safety demonstration by members of the Fire and Emergency Services team.

Students of the B.A. and B.Sc. first semester were also provided hands-on training on fire safety measures, including how to respond during emergencies and the challenges that can arise during fire incidents.

The programme highlighted the importance of fire safety awareness in preventing loss of life and property. By providing students with practical knowledge and training, the initiative is expected to help build a more alert and prepared student community capable of responding responsibly during fire emergencies.

The programme also served as an important step in strengthening disaster preparedness and promoting a culture of safety within the college and the wider community.
