Guwahati, March 31: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said they will not allow Assam to become the hub for infiltrators again after BJP has freed lands from encroachment.

Addressing a poll rally at Bijni for BJP candidate Ajay Rai, Shah criticised Congress for doing nothing in their last 15 years rule in Assam.

“During Congress ruled in Assam many youths were killed. Now, the same Congress party is riding on the shoulder of AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal to come to power. What Congress has given in their last 15 years. In our last five years term in Assam, we have successfully curb violence. We have also freed Assam from agitation and protest,” Shah said.

“Kaan khol kar sunlo Ajmal, Assam ko ghuspetiyo ke adda phir see nahin banne denge (Ajmal listen carefully we will not allow Assam to become a hub for infiltrators again)” Shah said

Shah accused Congress of failing to stop infiltration in their 15 years rule in Assam.

Former Congress chief minister Tarun Gogoi had dismissed Ajmal saying ‘Who is Ajmal?’ but now Rahul Gandhi says that the AIUDF is Assam’s identity, but we will not allow this at any cost”, Shah said.

“We want development and our ‘Double engine’ government worked for all-round development of the state and in last five years lots of development took place in Assam. We have freed Kaziranga National park from illegal encroachment,” Shah added.

“Five years ago, I as the part President had come to you and promised to make Assam free from violence and agitation and ensure development,” Union minister said.

Shah further said, “We have fulfilled our promises and give us another five years term and we will make the state infiltrators-free and flood-free Assam,”.

Shah accused Congress of not solving the problem of insurgency, leading to the deaths of so many people, but Prime minister Narendra Modi took initiative for signing the Bodo Accord.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also addressed two rallies at Hajo and Sonapur for BJP candidates.
