Shillong, May 9: National People’s Party (NPP) national vice president and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong on Monday announced Dr Jasmine Lyngdoh as the party candidate from Nongthymmai constituency for the upcoming 2023 elections.
Welcoming Dr Jasmine into the party, Tynsong said that the party is lucky to have an active woman who is enthusiastic in serving the people of the constituency despite not being an MLA.
“Today I formally announce Dr. Jasmine Lyngdoh as the NPP candidate for the upcoming 2023 election from Nongthymmai constituency and I wish her the very best so that she continues to serve the people of the constituency and the state as a whole,” said Tynsong at the party joining ceremony of Dr. Jasmine.
Dr Jasmine Lyngdoh is the sister of former Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader and sitting East Shillong MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh.
In her speech, Dr. Jasmine Lyngdoh shared that since last year people of her constituency and from other parts of the state have been asking her about her intention to contest for the 2023 election but she had never confirmed which party.
“From today I can proudly tell everyone that the NPP has chosen me as its candidate for 2023 and I will work hard for my people to ensure that our party wins in order to continue to work for the people” said Lyngdoh.
Lyngdoh said that she is thankful to the national president who is also the chief minister of the state Conrad K Sangma and the party leaders who have faith in her to carry on with the responsibility to serve the people by contesting for the 2023 election.
She added that she had decided to contest from the NPP because of many great leaders like Conrad K Sangma who she considered as a role model because of his innovative ideas and the speed at which he led the government to serve the people.
