Ampati, Oct 17: A cooking competition for selected cooks cum helpers under PM Poshan scheme was conducted by the Sub Divisional School Education Officer (SDSEO), South West Garo Hills, Ampati, on Tuesday at a multifacility center near the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex.
Altogether 10 schools were selected to participate in the competition. 5 participants were from the upper primary schools while the other five were from the lower primary schools.
The objective of the competition was to determine the assimilation of knowledge by the cooks during trainings given out to them besides showcasing their creativity and culinary skills. The competition was also an opportunity for the participants to interact with each other and gain understanding through experience sharing.
Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, South West Garo hills Deputy Commissioner, Hema Nayak, stated that the cooks played a very important role in providing nutritional meals to children who often come to school with empty stomachs.
The Deputy Commissioner later awarded the 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes of the cooking competition to Joshina M Sangma of Chigitchakgre Government L P School, Balmonthy D Marak of Ampati Songittal SSA L P School and Rita Koch of Lower Ampati U P School, respectively.
Among others who spoke at the occasion were MIS Garo Hills PM Poshan, Kennedy S Marak and Senior Associate, NESFAS, Rimchi N Marak.
