Tura, Nov 9: A 17 year old boy has died and his sister is fighting for her life after the bike they were on crashed straight into a dumper truck coming in the opposite direction at Zikzak in South West Garo Hills.
The accident happened today at around 3:30 PM when one Dumper truck and one Discover bike 100 CC met with an accident at Rakoldubi village, on a newly constructed road from Zigzak Bazar to Bhoirakupi under Zikzak Block.
Preliminary inquiry into the matter suggests that the rider probably lost control of the bike and collided with the dumper truck coming from opposite direction. As a result of which the bike rider and pillion both received grevious injuries.
The injured victims are bike rider Sengkam D. Sangma, age17 yrs S/O Shri Nanggan Marak and Miss Salsime D. Sangma, age 21 yrs D/O Shri Nanggan Marak of Dombaggre village under Zikzak.
Both the injured persons were immediately taken to the Zikzak PHC for urgent medical care and attention and later referred to Tura Civil Hospital for further treatment. However one of them Sengkam D. Sangma succumbed to his injuries.
After the accident a large crowd gathered outside Zikzak hospital where they were being given first treatment but situation was gradually diffused.
