Another setback to Congress as KHADC MDC Bajop Pyngrope leaves party, to join NPP on March 31

Shillong, Mar 28: At a time when other parties are drawing plans for the upcoming elections to Meghalaya Assembly in early 2023, Congress in the state is still struggling with infighting and exodus of leaders.

In the latest setback for the grand old party, its KHADC MDC from Rambrai Jyrngam, Bajop Pyngrope, tendered his resignation from the party along with other members on Monday. Pyngrope cited infighting in the party and alleged corruption by the higher ups as the reason for him quitting the party.He was with the Congress for 8 years. A total of 20 members resigned from Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Monday.

At the same time, he informed that he will be joining the National People’s Party (NPP) on March 31.

Lauding the NPP chief and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, he said he is impressed by Sangma’s leadership under which the state is seeing positive change. He also appreciated the CM’s efforts towards resolving the 5-decade old boundary issue between Assam and Meghalaya.
