Imphal, Feb 26: In a endeavour to restore peace in Manipur, a delegation from the Arambai Tenggol (AT) called on Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla yesterday evening.

The meeting comes as a seven-day deadline for surrendering looted and illegal weapons, came to an end.

The deadline was part of a broader effort to restore peace and stability in Manipur, which has been plagued by violence and unrest.

According to sources, the AT delegation sought assurances from the Governor that civilians would be protected from attacks after surrendering their firearms.

They also requested that central forces and police fill any security gaps to prevent civilians from feeling forced to arm themselves again.

“We had a detailed discussion with the Governor, and the agenda was how to bring peace,” said Robin Mangang, spokesperson for Arambai Tenggol. “We cannot give out the details, but we have certain conditions. If they are met, we are ready to surrender our arms.”

Meanwhile, people across Manipur’s hills and valleys are voluntarily surrendering arms and ammunition.

The public has expressed strong support for Governor Bhalla’s call to return looted and illegally held weapons.

The development is seen as a positive step towards restoring peace and stability in Manipur.

The state has been plagued by violence and unrest in recent months, and the surrender of arms is seen as a crucial step towards rebuilding trust and promoting reconciliation.

Governor Bhalla has been working tirelessly to promote peace and stability in the state, and the meeting with the AT delegation is seen as a significant breakthrough.

The Governor’s office has not released an official statement on the meeting, but sources indicate that progress is being made towards finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
