Itanagar, Aug 25: In a display of commitment to fostering youth engagement and promoting sportsmanship, the Jairampur Battalion of Assam Rifles launched the Jairampur Sports League at the Assam Rifles Football Ground, Jairampur Garrison, on Sunday.
This initiative underscores Assam Rifles’ dedication to nurturing local talent and enhancing the physical fitness and discipline of the youth in the region.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including the MLA of Nampong Circle, Laisam Simai, and the Sector Commander of Assam Rifles.
The event commenced with a humble yet vibrant cultural programme that showcased the rich heritage of the local community, followed by the inauguration of the league.
The chief guest, Laisam Simai, had the honour of kicking off the inaugural football match, setting the tone for the spirited competition that will unfold over the coming weeks.
The Jairampur Sports League, which spans three weeks, will witness the enthusiastic participation of over 400 young sportsmen aged 8 to 22 years.
These athletes, representing various categories and events, will compete in a series of sporting challenges, each designed to test their skills, teamwork, and perseverance.
The league offers a platform for the youth to demonstrate their athletic prowess, with approximately 100 medals at stake, awaiting those who emerge victorious in their respective events.
This sports league serving as yet another step in strengthening the bond between the Assam Rifles and the local populace as well as to bring development and peace in the region.
