Dibrugarh, Aug 29: In a display of profound compassion, Nyabi Jini Dirchi, the Zila Parishad Chairperson (ZPC) of Leparada district in Arunachal Pradesh, undertook a remarkable initiative to alleviate the suffering of individuals battling various eye ailments. The noble effort culminated in a two-day-long free eye check-up camp held at the Basar District Hospital on August 27 and 28.
Undeterred by adverse weather conditions and challenges in communication, approximately 1100 individuals converged at the camp seeking respite from their eye-related issues. Collaborating with Bright Vision NE, a Dibrugarh-based non-governmental organization (NGO), the camp was led by doctors and optometrists from the Assam Medical College and Hospitals, Dibrugarh. The medical professionals, alongside the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff members of the hospital, ensured the smooth execution of the camp.
Over the course of the event, around 700 individuals were furnished with free spectacles, while complimentary medicines were also distributed. Notably, more than a hundred patients received referrals to the Assam Medical College and Hospitals for further medical treatment and potential surgical interventions.
The camp also witnessed some elderly patients walking considerable distances to attend the camp. The Leparada district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had also extended comprehensive administrative support to ensure the camp’s success.
