Shillong, Aug 29: Jinu Kharbuki, the headman of Mawlyndep and a concerned parent, has expressed his worry regarding the delay in enforcement of the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in some of the colleges.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Kharbuki pointed out that students in their first semester were encountering confusion due to the absence of dedicated classes for them. He questioned that with just few months left of this academic session, will the teachers able to finish with the syllabus.
Kharbuki urged the Meghalaya College Teachers’ Association (MCTA) to proactively address the situation as it will only hamper the future of the students.
The MCTA has been continuing with boycotting the first semester classes under FYUP (Four Year Undergraduate Programme) and also launched a Non-Cooperation Movement against NEHU in response to the North-Eastern Hill University’s (NEHU) implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 from August 2023 for the UG (Undergraduate) level without approval from the Academic Council.
Kharbuki suggested that the government much issue a notification that mandates the prompt execution of the NEP in all educational establishments in the state.
