ASPF calls for joint labour license and infiltration verification drive at Garobadha Bazar

Tura, Sep 18: The A•chik State Peoples’ Front (ASPF), Garobadha Regional Unit, has urged the Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills to conduct a joint verification drive for labour license and illegal infiltration at Garobadha Bazar.

In a letter submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, the ASPF said Garobadha Bajar is a significant hub for migrant workers from states like Bihar and even neighbouring Bangladesh, and raised concerns about the presence of undocumented workers in the area.
“To ensure that all labourers at Garobadha Bajar are working legally, regular labour license checking and monitoring of potential infiltration are essential,” the organization said.

Calling for a collaboration with the Labour Department, ASPF sought for joint inspections to ensure that all labourers at Garobadha Bazar possess valid labour licenses and are in legal employment, and identify and address cases of illegal infiltration by ensuring that workers have proper documentation for residing and working in the area.

The ASPF was hopeful that collaboration between the local administration and the Labour Department would help maintain law and order, protect workers’ rights, and safeguard the region’s security.
