Guwahati, Aug 27: In a shocking incident, the body of a 10-year-old boy was found hanging from the residence of Lok Sabha MP Rajdeep Roy in Assam’s Cachar district on Saturday, police said.
Sources said that the boy was allegedly very upset with his mother for not allowing him to play mobile games.
The 10-year-old boy, who was a Class-5 student and was staying at the BJP’s Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy’s house with his mother and elder sister for a few years.
The recovered body was sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for post-mortem.
The boy’s family is originally from the Palong Ghat area of Cachar district, and his mother works as a housekeeper at MP Rajdeep Roy’s house.
Police sources said that for the better education of her two children, the woman brought them to Silchar a few years ago.
While addressing the media after the incident, the BJP MP said, “They told me he had hanged himself. The door of the room where the body was recovered was closed from inside, and when police broke open it, the boy was found unconscious. We rushed him to a nearby hospital, and the doctors tried to save him, but it was too late. He was declared dead by the doctors”.
Meanwhile, a case of unnatural death has been registered.
According to prima facie, it’s a case of suicide, the police said.
