Assam: 2 arrested with 11 gold biscuits and 81 foreign currency notes in New Bongaigaon railway station

Guwahati, July 17: The Government Railway Police (GRP) seized 11 gold biscuits and 81 foreign currency notes during a night raid on the Gomati Nagar Weekly Express at New Bongaigaon Railway station on Tuesday.

After getting tip off information, the GRP conducted the raid and successfully seized the smuggling gold and currency notes.

GRP have also arrested two persons in connection with the raid. The suspected have been identified as Kundan Kumar Jaiswal and Channi, both hailing from Uttar Pradesh.

The police revealed that the gold was intercepted based on intelligence reports while the suspects were in the process of supplying it.

The successful raid underscores the GRP’s commitment to maintaining law and order on the railways.

GRP officials said the crackdown on illegal activities will be continue.
