According to police sources, the suspects were engaged in extortion activities in Arunachal Pradesh. After collecting the extortion money, they were planning to move to other locations, but the vigilance of security forces led to their arrest.

Meanwhile, security forces have launched counter-insurgency operations along the Assam-Arunachal border. This region shares an international border with Myanmar, through which insurgents from neighbouring camps often infiltrate Assam and Arunachal Pradesh to carry out their activities.
