Dibrugarh, March 17: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) on Friday burnt effigy of Assam Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu, after HSLC papers of General science and Assamese were leaked.

The Student Union staged a protest in Dibrugarh on Friday and later burnt the effigy of Ranoj Pegu.

Talking to reporters, AASU, Dibrugarh general secretary Aboni Kumar Gogoi said, “It’s a shameful incident in Assam. The Education Minister should take full responsibility for the incident and resign from his post. The government is playing with the life of the students.”

“In the name of ‘Sarkar’ ‘circus’ is running in Assam. The Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) should be reformed but the government has not done anything for the reformation of the SEBA,” he remarked.

He also informed that the protests will continue until justice is served for the student. “We demand immediate resignation of Education Minister Ranoj Pegu,” he reiterated.

On the other hand, the prime accused in the Assam HSLC exam paper leak case, Kumud Rajkhowa, surrendered before police at North Lakhimpur police station on Friday afternoon.

According to reports, Rajkhowa, the headmaster of Dafalakata High School in Lakhimpur district surrendered following a call by Assam DGP, GP Singh.
