Assam: AIUDF chief visits flood affected areas to review flood situation

Guwahati, July 11: AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal visited Barpeta’s chenimari area and took stock of the flood situation on Wednesday .

Ajmal, accompanied by Chenga MLA Ashraful Hussain, visited the flood affected people of chenimari and talked with them and assured to provide adequate relief.

Talking to reporters, Badruddin Ajmal said, “I was out of station after election result. I went for Haj; and recently I have returned to Assam. It is good to see that our AIUDF MLA has been working for the flood affected people. We have organized a 10-day tour programme and I will tour to Barpeta, Goalpara, Dhubri and Bongaigaon area and meet with the flood victims. Our Ajmal foundation has been working tirelessly for the humanity and this time also we stand with the flood affected people.”

He also announced institution of an award from this year called ‘Man of the Year’ award, which will be given to persons doing great deeds in the service of humanity.

He further said he would be appealing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide Rs 20,000 crore as package for the flood affected people of Assam.

“Today, I met chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and requested him to provide adequate relief to the flood affected people. A memorandum was also submitted to him,” he added.
