Guwahati, April 12: Ahead of the first phase of Lok sabha polls, during poll campaign on Friday in upper Assam’s Chabua , Assam chief minister attacked Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi who is contesting from Jorhat. Chief Minister questioned Gogoi’s religious allegiance citing his participation in Eid Namaz alongside independent MLA Akhil Gogoi in Sivasagar

He alledged that Gogoi was holding rallies and agitation along with Rahul Gandhi during Nyay yatra in Assam on the day of Ram Mandir congregation. Sarma also alleged that “it is a kind of appeasement politics towards the muslim society that Gogoi is trying hard but Sarma added that the Muslims need development and jobs,” he stated.

He further said that, “Gaurav Gogoi seems to know the correct postures of offering Namaz . I dont know where he has learnt it. But there is a question here that the way he and Akhil Gogoi has shown so much devotion about Eid, why did they not show the same during Ram Mandir congregation. When pran pratistha was happening , he was fighting with the administration and breaking laws along Rahul Gandhi in the roads of Assam during Nyay yatra.

He has committed a big sin that he has not even visited Ram mandir once . He doesn’t go to Kamakhya . We have so many other festivals but we don’t see his devotion there.
People like him love no one. No Hindu no Muslim. The Muslim Society of Assam does not need this kind of appeasement.
