Guwahati, May 02: National Cadet Corps (NCC) girls cadets of 60 Assam Girls Bn NCC, Guwahati of NCC Gp HQ, Guwahati under NCC Dte NER, Shillong successfully completed a ten-day, Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)-02 on May 02 held at Narangi Transit Facility (NTF), Narangi(Guwahati). The duration of the CATC was from April 23 to May 02 24, and it was attended by 482 SD/SW & JW/JD along with six associate NCC officers (ANOs).
The CATC served as a melting pot of learning, camaraderie, and skill enhancement for the boy & girl cadets from diverse areas in and around Guwahati. During Camp training, the endeavor was to give cadets maximum exposure to Range Drill, firing, and specialized training, emphasizing community living, discipline, First-aid, character, and confidence building. The foundation of the camp was built upon a robust curriculum designed to hone the cadets’ skills in numerous domains. This camp will also be an eligibility criterion for the A, B, and C certificate Examinations.
During the period of 10 days, various training activities like morning PT, Drill, Map reading, firing practice with a .22 rifle(all 482 cadets fired), tent pitching, tug of war, and volleyball matches were conducted. In addition, various guest lectures were conducted by NDRF, NEDFi, SBI bank, Exchange Participants’Â Association (EXPA) team of 04 ex- cadets who conducted classes on soft skills, IAF Recruitment officials, a lecture on Special forces, a lecture on CPR by Medical officer, Know Your Army, etc.
As part of peer learning, ex-cadets interaction was also organized. Officers, ANOs, and Girls Cadet Instructors (GCI) also delivered lectures to cadets about their experience and field of expertise, thereby ensuring an overall enriching, informative, and knowledgeable experience for cadets. Various competitions like volleyball, debate, painting, elocution, firing, tug of war and drill were conducted and cadets were felicitated with prizes on the final day. Cadets also organized the cultural program during a Camp fire at the end of camp.
The Camp Comdt, Col Ajay Kumar Sharma, during the closing address, said that NCC girls cadets triumph in this ten days CATC stands as a beacon of success, exemplifying the values of discipline, physical fitness, leadership, and camaraderie instilled by the National Cadet Corps. He interacted with cadets and motivated cadets to be disciplined and sincere towards life. He said all these 482 cadets who attended the CATC camp are flag bearers of NCC, who have to motivate other students & cadets further and enlighten them with what NCC is offering. He emphasized that such camps are opportunities for the cadets to learn the Army way of life and make friends for life.
