Dr. HB Buam, pediatrician and Incharge of SCNCU, said that it has been a long-awaited project to bring the facility to the hospital, but it was only until this year that the facility is ready to begin operating and to provide medical services free of charge to newborn babies.

Dr. Buam added that the facility will help sick babies who are born with jaundice and other illnesses.

The Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) is a neonatal unit in the vicinity of the labor room which will provide special care (all care except assisted ventilation and major surgery) for sick newborns.
