Kohima, July 9: Football fans in Nagaland will get a chance to watch the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final on the big screen, with a free public live screening set to be organised at PHQ Junction in Kohima on July 19.
The initiative has been announced by Ward-19 Councillor of the Kohima Municipal Council and NPP leader Medoviu Martin Suohu, who said the screening will begin at 11.30 pm, allowing football lovers to come together to witness the biggest match in world football.

With football fever sweeping across the state, Suohu said the event aims to ensure that everyone, including students and families who may not have access to large screens or suitable viewing facilities at home, can enjoy the final in a festive and inclusive atmosphere.
A giant LED screen will be installed at PHQ Junction to recreate a stadium-like viewing experience. Organisers will also provide basic seating, lighting and other arrangements to ensure the comfort and safety of spectators.

The event will be open to the public free of charge, with fans encouraged to turn up in large numbers and create a vibrant “fan zone” atmosphere.
Suohu said the initiative is also intended to promote sports culture and youth engagement in the state while fostering a spirit of unity and sportsmanship among football enthusiasts.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 Final, scheduled for July 19, is expected to attract one of the largest global television audiences of the year, with millions of fans around the world tuning in to watch football’s biggest spectacle.
