Guwahati, Sept 16: The Assam government has issued a directive whereby it has directed all schools to ensure performance of the State Anthem – Lakshminath Bezbarua’s ‘O Mur Apunar Dex’- on all occasions, meetings etc at their premises, other than morning assembly.

Instructions to this effect have been already issued by the Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha, Assam (SSA) to the Inspectors of Schools of various districts, the District Elementary Education officers (DEEOs) and District Mission Coordinators of SSA.

The SSA Director directed that all schools should be instructed about this decision, which has the approval of the Education Minister of Assam.

“Earlier, the State Anthem ‘O Mur Apunar Dex’ was performed during school prayers with the National Anthem but now in every occasion of school function it is mandatory to sing the state Anthem,” said a school teacher from Dibrugarh.
