Guwahati, April 16: Huge quantity of explosives were recovered from a passenger bus at Krishnai in Assam’s Goalpara district on Sunday morning.

According to reports, the bus was coming from Meghalaya.

Police seized 1162 gelatine sticks and 998 detonators. “We have arrested one person in connection with the recovery. The arrested person has been identified as Abdul Malek, a resident of Rajabala in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya,” said a police official.

According to police, the explosives were recovered following checking of the bus after receiving input about transportation of the items.

“We have launched an investigation into the case. Right now we can’t say anything because the investigation is at early state. We have arrested the persons and started interrogation,” said a police official.
