Assam Medical College bags “Best Multidisciplinary Research Unit” award at DHR-ICMR Summit 2024

Dibrugarh, Nov 14: Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, has been awarded the prestigious “Best Multidisciplinary Research Unit” (MRU) at the DHR-ICMR Health Research Excellence Summit 2024 held in New Delhi on Thursday. This accolade underscores the college’s outstanding contributions to medical research and innovation.

The award was presented by Shrimati Anupriya Patel, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Rajiv Bahl, Secretary, Department of Health Research, Government of India, and Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), as well as VK Paul, Member of NITI Aayog. Dr. Reema Nath, Vice-Principal of Assam Medical College, accepted the award on behalf of the institution.

Assam Medical College’s selection was based on several key criteria, including the number of annual research projects, indexed publications, contingency expenditures, project completion rate, contributions to patent guidelines, diagnostic processes, and international and multi-centre funding.

This recognition reaffirms Assam Medical College’s commitment to advancing the frontiers of medical research and fostering innovation in healthcare.
