‘Three of the six disputed areas are easy to resolve’
Shillong, March 28: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said both the states of Assam and Meghalaya are eager to resolve the six pending areas of difference at the earliest.
According to him, three of the six disputed areas are easy to resolve.
Speaking to reporters at the sidelines of a passing out parade at NEPA, Sarma said, “From Assam side, we are eager to resolve six pending disputed areas and out of that, three are actually we can resolve at any point of time. I think Meghalaya is waiting to see that the other three are also resolved together. We are working on and we will keep on working and I am sure that the balance will be resolved mutually.”
“You see this involves people’s sentiments of both the states so the time frame is not good but at the same time we should hope and pray it will be resolved sooner or later,” he added.
Asked, the Assam CM said, “The Survey of India is doing the demarcation and they are proceeding well but whatever we have signed in presence of home minister is binding to both the government.”
