Guwahati, Feb 6: The All Assam Mid Day Meal (Pradhan Mantri Poshan) Workers’ Association organised a protest to their demands in Guwahati’s Chanchal on Tuesday.

The Budget session of the Assam Legislative Assembly is presently underway. The workers aim to make their voices heard with all the legislators currently in Guwahati for the Assembly session.

Kanaklata Das, the association’s president, expressed dissatisfaction, saying that despite their continued protests, the government has not responded to their requests.

“We have six main demands, and if the government doesn’t meet them, we plan to continue our protest,” Das said.

Some of the key demands put forward by the organisation include the increase of their payment from Rs 1,500 to Rs 5,000, getting paid for all 12 months instead of 10, getting appointment letters for their positions, and receiving their payment on time.

The Assam Legislative Assembly’s Budget Session commenced on Monday, and is slated to continue until February 28.
