Guwahati, April 5: In an anti-narcotics operation, police seized 12,000 Yaba tablets and arrested a drug supplier from the Shantipur area in Assam’s South Salmara Mankachar district on Saturday.
The market value of the seized Yaba tablets is estimated to be ₹60 lakh.
The arrested person has been identified as Amirul Islam (55) of Shantipur, Mankachar.

Acting on reliable information, the operation was conducted by OC Mankachar Police Station, Inspector Dipak Bargary, assisted by SI Puja Hazarika, SI Nayanjyoti Gogoi, and other personnel from Mankachar Police Station. The accused was arrested from his residence.
During the search operation, six bundles of Yaba tablets were recovered from the accused’s house.
The South Salmara Mankachar Police reaffirmed their commitment to tackling drug trafficking along the Indo-Bangladesh border. The region has long been a hotspot for smuggling, with traffickers employing creative methods to transport narcotics across the border.
