Guwahati, Aug 24: In a dramatic turn of events, a suspect in a minor girl’s alleged rape case died under mysterious circumstances.

Tafazul Islam, who was arrested just a day prior as one of three suspects in the case, reportedly jumped into a pond during a police-led crime scene reconstruction at around 4 AM, according to police sources.

The police immediately launched a search operation and later recovered Tafazul’s body from the pond.

Massive protests had continued late into the night at Dhing, with locals demanding the arrest of all three suspects involved in the case. The community has been insisting on their demand for capital punishment.
