The awards were presented by Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav during an event organised by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA). A total of 17 frontline staff from 11 Tiger Reserves across India were awarded for their commitment to conservation.

The accolades stem from a heroic incident that occurred on May 11, when the four awardees successfully thwarted an attempted rhino poaching at KNPTR. Their swift and decisive actions not only prevented the illegal killing of a rhino but also led to the recovery of weapons from the poachers.
