Shillong, Sept 16 : In a bid to combat rising dropout rates, Meghalaya’s Education Minister, Rakkam A Sangma, has urged collective action through the “Back-to-School” campaign, a joint initiative by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA), Red FM 93.5, and the state’s Education Department.

This program focuses on re-integrating students who had left the education system, particularly those affected by socio-economic challenges and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sangma highlighted the importance of community involvement in bringing students back to the classroom, stating that ensuring every child’s right to education requires cooperation from all sectors of society. The minister appealed to the public, educators, and stakeholders to prioritize this mission and support the initiative wholeheartedly.

In line with this effort, the state government is enacting several education reforms, including updating learning materials, improving school infrastructure, and introducing innovative tools like QR-coded textbooks, which offer video lessons to supplement traditional education. The campaign is designed to increase awareness, encouraging more proactive steps toward securing a brighter future for Meghalaya’s youth.
