Imphal, Mar 26: Basanta Kumar Singh, the State Education and Law Minister of Manipur, will contest as its BJP candidate in the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha seat for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Basanta Kumar Singh is replacing Rajkumar Ranjan Singh. Singh to face off against Congress candidate Angomcha Bimol Akoijam.

Bimol Akoijam is a Professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru University and the consensus nominee of the 10-party alliance in Manipur.

Basanta Kumar Singh,is son of former Union Minister Thounaojam Chaoba Singh, won the Nambol constituency in the 2022 Assembly elections.

Inner Manipur goes to polls on April 19, while Outer Manipur will vote in two phases on April 19 and 26.
