Guwahati, Oct 28: “Bhasha Gaurav Week,” scheduled to start on November 3, will honor the recent recognition of Assamese as a “Classical Language.” The week-long celebration will embrace not only Assamese but also the 14 other languages spoken across Assam.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has called on the people of Assam to participate in the celebrations, fostering a collective pride in their diverse linguistic heritage.
“Bhasha Gaurav Week celebrates Assamese as well as the other 14 languages spoken in the state, including Bodo, Bengali, Manipuri, Nepali, Santali, Mishing, Karbi, and Dimasa, among others,” Sarma said.
Sarma also urged educational institutions to host various events throughout the week, adding, “We must celebrate Bharatiya languages in our educational institutions.”
