BJP confident to win 12 Lok Sabha seats in Assam

Guwahati, Feb 28: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma exuded confidence of winning 11 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats but they will try their best to win the 12 seat in the state.

Talking to reporters, CM Sarma said, “We will win 11 out of 14 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. But we will try our best to win 12 numbers of seat in the state,”.

Sarma said that ticket aspirants will send their applications to BJP observers and the list will be sent to Delhi for the first round of discussions on the probable list of candidates.

“We do not want the process to be a long-drawn one so that there is not much chance of lobbying for candidature,” Sarma stated.

Sarma said, “I am not interested in knowing the names of the candidates. People will vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi”.

BJP has currently nine MPs, while Congress has three, and the AIUDF has one while one Independent MP.

The BJP has not yet announced candidates names for the Lok Sabha polls 2024.

The saffron party has formed a special committee to select potential candidates to contest for the poll in 12 seats in Assam.

The Special committee consists of 12 conveners and 12 co-conveners formed to prepare a list of potential candidates in 12 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
