The Deputy Commissioner (Election) and East Khasi Hills has directs all Govt and Private Education institutions to remain close on April 18 being the Movement Day for all polling parties within 1-Shillong (ST) Parliamentary Constituency.

Altogether 158 EVMs were successfully commissioned for use during the General Election to the Lok Sabha on April 19th, 2024.

Congress candidate Saleng A Sangma was in the NPP stronghold of Rongjeng in East Garo Hills district to garner support for his candidature on Wednesday. A number of Trinamool and BJP members from the region joined the Congress party during the public rally held at Rongjeng field.

Speaking at an election meeting in Jalaphet, East Jaintia Hills with Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, cabinet Minister in Conrad Sangma led ruling Meghalaya government, Ampareen said, “I will work in close coordination with the Dollois, the Waheh Chnong (headmen) to understand their problems and raise it in the Parliament”.

Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president and INDIA alliance candidate from Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency Lurinjyoti Gogoi was welcomed in Dibrugarh District Congress office on Tuesday. He was felicitated by the Congress members in the party office.

Speaking at a general meeting in Mawsynram on Monday, Dr. Ampareen citing her own example, stating that she resigned from her teaching position seven months after being elected as an MLA in 2009.

In view of the upcoming General Elections 2024 to the Lok Sabha, the District Election Officer, West Garo Hills district Jagdish Chelani has convened a meeting today at DRDA Conference Hall, Tura to discuss about organising SVEEP activities in the district and ethical voting.
