BJP minister joins Congress after denies ticket from Diphu constituency ahead of Assembly polls

Must read

Guwahati, March 7: After denied party ticket for the assembly election in Assam, BJP minister Sum Ronghang on Sunday switched to the Congress party formally.

He joined the Congress in presence of AICC general secretary Jitendra Singh and the party’s state unit president Ripun Bora. Ronghang is a mister of hills areas development and mines and minerals.

Congress is likely to field him from the Diphu constituency.

He was one among the 11 members excluded from the BJP in the recently announced list of party candidates.

With Assam assembly polls, just a few weeks ahead, the declaration of party candidates has created a gap within the party members. On March 5, the BJP announced the list of 70 candidates who would be contesting the upcoming elections.

Ronghang said, “I did not like the way I was denied the ticket. I performed my duties with full dedication. I did not get the ticket due to the conspiracy of certain individuals,”.
