BJP to contest 11 out of 14 seats in Lok Sabha polls in Assam, says CM

Guwahati, Feb 29: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that BJP will contest 11 out 14 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Assam.

Speaking to media persons, CM Sarma said, “BJP in Assam readied a list of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. A discussion on the candidates will take place in New Delhi today and finalise the list. BJP will contest 11 out of 14 seats leaving two seats of Barpeta and Dhubri to its allies AGP and one to United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL).

Sources said the most of the BJP leaders have left for New Delhi today and will meet the top BJP leaders. Most of the political parties have geared up ahead of Lok Sabha elections and making strategies to ‘woo voters’.

A day after resigning from the Congress, senior politician, Rana Goswami joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at a formal program in Guwahati today.

The senior politician from Assam resigned from all posts in Congress on Wednesday.
