Guwahati, Mar 27 : Controversial viral image of UPPL’s Benjamin Basumatary sleeping with money in Assam sparks debate. In a response to the viral photo, Benjamin Basumatary has clarified his stand through a video statement. Basumatary expressed his dismay at being wrongfully targeted and emphasized his lack of involvement with UPPL or any government entities.
The photo has been circulated across various media platforms. The photo in question, depicted Basumatary lying in a stack of cash in a traditional towel.
The Bodo leader revealed that the photo was taken five years ago during a casual gathering among friends, where Basumatary was unknowingly captured. It has been disclosed that Basumatary was subsequently targeted and blackmailed with the photo by unidentified individuals seeking to defame him.
He further stated that the cash visible in the image was not associated with any illicit activities but belonged to Benjamin Basumatary’s sister, adding a layer of misinterpretation to the already misleading narrative propagated by the circulated photo.
