Four books released by the CS written by Naphirisa Kordor Tariang

Shillong, Feb 14: Three books entitled — The Canvas of Time, Ink Spilled Pages and the Tug of Words, written by Naphirisa Kordor Tariang was released on Monday by Meghalaya Chief Secretary Rebecca V. Suchiang at Khasi Dorbar Hall in Mawkhar, Shillong.

The book ‘Anne Jones’ written by Dr. B.P.S Toi and translated by Naphirisa Kordor was also unveiled by the Chief Secretary.

Naphirisa Kordor Tariang (27) is a PG student in Creative Writing in St Xavier’s College, Kolkata. Coming from a family of writers, Naphirisa has written several other books and novels. In her debut novel ‘North Star’ she talks about Khasi materlinial society leadership is born of the feminine kind.

Tariang, as she is the only woman in her class who is from a materlinial society, wanted to write to give her female peers the chance to understand that there is another way than a patriarchial society.

Speaking at the programme, the Chief Secretary spoke about the importance of family support and encouragement. The Chief Secretary while speaking at the occasion talked about the pleasure and joy of reading, while lamenting that youth today no longer enjoy the hobby of reading.

Rev (Dr) R R Cunville, Dr David Taring also spoke during the programme.
