Guwahati, Dec 30: Assam’s Border department minister Atul Bora on Friday expressed hope to expedite ongoing border talks with the neighbouring states like Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.
He said some unfortunate incidents have happened but Assam Government is hopeful that it would not impact talks. He added that in 2023 Assam will fast track border talks with its neighbours.
“The Mukroh incident is not a border dispute, so with Meghalaya our efforts to resolve disputes would continue. The regional committee(s) have (worked) very hard to resolve the disputes and… all (the) state governments are committed to it. We are not looking at time frame but this is on priority next year. Discussion with Nagaland could not start since the case is in Supreme Court and sub-judice,” Bora said.
