Boulder export trucks movement to be halted in Garo Hills for Polls

Ampati, April 8: In view of the conduct of General Election to the Lok Sabha, 2024 and in order to avoid traffic congestion and untoward incident during the period of movement of polling personnel, zonal magistrates and sector officers, the District Magistrate, South West Garo Hills, Hema Nayak has issued an order to halt all types of heavy carrier vehicles plying within the district and specifically boulder exporting trucks plying to Bangladesh from 5 pm of April 17, 2024 to 5 pm of April 20, 2024.

The District Magistrate has also ordered that ongoing works carried out by departments concerned such as laying of pipes and cables along sides of PWD roads be temporarily stopped from April 17 to April 20, 2024 to ensure smooth movement of vehicles on Election duty and to avoid disruption of Internet services during the election.

All heavy commercial vehicles and broken-down vehicles parked on the roadsides in the district have been ordered to be removed immediately and to be parked in open spaces.

In promulgation of the order under Section 144 CrPC, the District Magistrate has prohibited parking of vehicles on both sides of the road and parking without a driver for a period of 10 minutes or more in No Parking zones in the important junctions and main roads of the district.
