Shillong, Feb 12: In an incident on Sunday that has led to huge chaos at the Zero-point of the Indo-Bangladesh border, a Veterinary and Animal Husbandry (V&AH) Officer from Muktapur Amlarem Block has alleged that he was harassed by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel.
According to the Veterinary officer, while on his way to catch fish from a nearby river, he was stopped by the BSF who began questioning him. Eventually, he took out his cellphone and started recording, which annoyed the BSF personnel.
They then snatched the cellphone from him and asked him to strip his clothes, threatening to shoot him to death.
In one viral video circulating on the internet, the Veterinary officer stated that the two BSF personnel were harassing him. He claimed that the two BSF jawans asked him to kneel to the ground and beg for forgiveness, which he refused, leading to the jawans’ anger and subsequent threats.
According to the Veterinary Officer, some local women witnessed the incident and intervened, sparking a large quarrel between the locals and the BSF personnel.
