Tura, Dec 3: The 200 Battalion (BN) of Border Security Force (BSF) organized a Blood Donation Camp on Tuesday at the BSF Combined Hospital, Danakgre, Tura in collaboration with the Tura Civil Hospital Blood Bank on Tuesday.
28 blood donors from BSF donated blood which will be used to support local hospitals and save many precious lives.
The donated blood will undergo testing at the Tura Civil Hospital Blood Centre before being used for patients in need. The event aimed to address the ongoing demand for blood in trauma cases, surgeries, and medical treatments, ensuring a steady supply for emergencies.
Dr. Dimpu R. Marak, Senior Medical and Health Officer at Tura Civil Hospital, supervised the blood donation operations alongside a dedicated team of medical professionals, including Dr. Shemida K. Marak and Dr. Kennelworth R. Marak. Speaking about the event, Dr. Dimpu R. Marak highlighted the importance of blood donation, stating, “The donated blood will be taken to our blood centre and undergo tests before it can be used for patients in need.”
Commandant Vinod Yadav of the 200 BN BSF personally visited the camp to encourage the jawans. He emphasized the BSF’s dedication to social causes, stating, “The BSF is not only the first line of defence but also the first responder in times of crisis.”
Dr. L.N. Chemdok, Assistant Commandant and Medical Officer, underscored the critical role of blood donation in saving lives during trauma situations and other medical emergencies. The event also aimed to raise awareness about the importance of regular blood donations and their impact on maintaining a stable and safe blood supply.
The BSF also extended its gratitude to all donors, volunteers, and the medical staff from Tura Civil Hospital for their help in successfully organising the camp.
Additionally, BSF reaffirmed its commitment to organizing more blood donation drives in future and continuing its efforts to support the health and well-being of the local community.
