Guwahati, Feb 14: The Border Security Force (BSF) under the aegis of Guwahati Frontier on Sunday foiled attempt of cattle smuggling and apprehended two cattle smugglers and rescued 18 cattle heads which were being smuggled to Bangladesh.Acting on a specific intelligence input on Sunday (Feb 13, 2022), vigilant bordermen of Border Outpost (BOP) Boreralga of 45 Bn BSF apprehended one Indian cattle smuggler and rescued 16 cattle heads on Indo-Bangladesh international border near the bordering village of Kaliaralga Part-2, POKokradanga, under South Salmara Mankachar (Assam) district while trying to smuggle the cattle heads to Bangladesh.
The apprehended smuggler was identified as one Habizur Mondal (21), of Boreralga village, of South Salmara Mankachar (Assam) district.
In another operation, vigilant bordermen of border outpost (BOP) Padma of 75 Bn BSF, apprehended one cattle smuggler and rescued 02 cattle heads on the Indo-Bangladesh International border near bordering Singimari village, under Coochbehar (WB) district while trying to smuggle the cattle heads to Bangladesh.
The apprehended smuggler was identified as one Azidul Miya (20), Thoketary village under the jurisdiction of Sitai police station belonging to Coochbehar (WB) district.
The apprehended smugglers alongwith seized cattle heads have been handed over to nearest police station for further legal action.
“Keeping in view of the vulnerability of border, heightened activities of the smugglers and anti-national elements on the border, BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes and are making all out efforts to prevent commission of such crimes,” said the PRO of BSF Frontier, headquartered at Guwahati.
