Must read

Tura, April 17: In its determination towards making the International Border smuggling free, BSF Meghalaya on Saturday seized more than 1200 bottles of liquor which were meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh from the International Border of West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills.

In Bangladesh, the consumption of alcohol is prohibited by law, for religious reasons. Despite it, alcohol is available across the country because the non-Muslims residing in the country or visiting the country are not subject to such restrictions as long as they confine their alcohol consumption to their private spaces. There are government-approved alcohol-producing companies, which produce local brands but owing to fewer number of such alcohol distillery and high prices, there is a high demand of comparatively cheaper Indian liquor in Bangladesh.
